Swiss Watch Making
The Swiss are known for several things: their incredible chocolates, their political neutrality, their impeccable banking systems, and their time pieces. All of which, one can say, are specialized, precise and reliable.
The history of Swiss watch making dates back to Geneva in the 1500s when Jean Calvin, an influential French Protestant Theologian, banned the wearing of all types of jeweleries. This forced the jewellers into focusing their art into something else, thus giving birth to the art we all know now as Swiss Watch Makers. Before the turn of the century, watch makers from Geneva has developed the art of making watches, Swiss watches were then now reputed for being of high quality. Watchmakers then created a Watchmakers' Guild of Geneva.
